Getting ready for the first look!

I always love the stark contrast between the women getting ready and the men. This bride had a small army of family and friends getting ready in one house. There was so much energy and excitement it was contagious...never mind a really good playlist jammin. The guys were totally chillin watching ESPN, throwing back a few..ok maybe a couple. I suppose I'm sorta a sucker for the sister shots..I grew up with brothers so..while it was awesome I suppose I always wonder what sisterhood would have been like...looks like it was fun! The bride caught on that I really loved photographing her curlers...but she looks so darn pretty like a movie star behind set! We also set up a Daddy first look..because hey he earned this and he was her first man.  The gold flowers were so unique and fun..just like this couple and accented this perfect fall day. This couple was extremely flexible and handled a slight snag with the party bus. I do think my ability to shift gears come from two places... motherhood and also working as a teacher. This first look "plan b" idea in opinion worked out exactly how it was supposed to...with a  little help from the best man and bridal party...using the ol neighborhood that they both grew up in as a backdrop...it turned out quite sweet and nods to the history they share. Ok after all this... it is still time to GET MARRIED...put on those watches, get in that car. It's time to get hitched. One more private kiss by the gate before you share the day with all of your loved ones! Stay tuned because the party is just getting started....

Because every chapter matters

I really enjoyed doing this shoot, of not only a very warm and enjoyable family, but one with young adult children. We tend to consider family portraiture as something we do when our children are tots, but as a mother myself let's face it...these kids...well they are your babies forever! This 20 something plus years of marriage and 20 something year old/teen kid place...I can only imagine the well deserved sense of accomplishment to recall the memories that were created because two people fell in love...all this! This appears to be a yet another sweet spot in parenthood...and this place is also a milestone. This place is worth the pause and documentation. Side note...this shoot served as some firsts for me... two participants were stung by hornets...but as a photographer it was helpful that they were in the most discreet of places and they marched on...what troopers! Also at one point I did indeed temporarily loose my shoe and one helpful individual jumped down into the above marsh on my behalf...must make a note not to where my beloved summer flip flops while on a shoot. Life presents many chapters and its important to tell your whole story...not just the first few chapters. Thank you for trusting me with this chapter.

16 Candles

This 16th birthday party was a twist of elegance and fun, that it really was Sweet!  Warwick Valley Country Club served as the venue and the staff was inviting and accommodating, never mind I am still drooling over the penne lol. Seriously one of the best DJ's I have heard, who really catered to its audience was All Class Entertainment, you can see from the photo's this crowd was a jumpin'. Here's to a 116 more birthday cakes! A very Happy 16th Birthday to you. You are radiant inside and out!

Public, Private and Secret

Small business and privacy in the age of social media...how does one balance this?
Jamie Kaminski Photography's first goal is to respect your privacy. My aim is to make images that YOU treasure for the rest of time. Do I want to blast them all over the Internet..OF COURSE  because I'm eXcited about your event and pictures...but pictures fundamentally are personal..they are for you. A wedding is really a wild event. Your making the most private of vows in a most public manner. I am always humbled by the trust placed in my hands to one capture, but two witness. I mean let's face I am the invited albeit hired stranger, with the tools that barrel down at you. I love witnessing those private moments of a whisper or the bride looking at her wedding ring for the first time. It's like a silent movie that only the bride and groom know the dialogue. It's a bit of magic, that secrets moments unfold in front of all the guests. I can tell you that this venue, Chateau Hathorn http://www.chateauhathorn.com/ was elegant, yet comfortable with a staff that was extremely polite and cheerful...and rest assured this is not an easy combination to find.  The food...well let's just say I hope I photograph here again...everything melted in my happy little mouth. To the bride and groom above, warm wishes and a heartfelt thank you!!

I knew when I took these two images I was not going to be able to wait for a proper blog post to share.
