Beautiful People Opening Day!!!

Today was one of those days that warms your heart. I am volunteering for this organization called Beautiful People, which provides adaptive sports for children with disabilities in Orange County, NY. I so enjoyed capturing today's athletes in motion. They were filled with happiness and determination. It brought new meaning to the phrase," for the love of the game", this was evident. I am also so proud today of two of my art students who are youth buddy's helping the players around the field! As always to my husband, that runs the sidelines with our two active little boys supporting me doing my "thang",  I could never pursue my photography passions with out him on my sideline. So much love today all around. You know when something is authentically and simply great...today at the field was just that. Jamie Kaminski Photography is honored to be a Blue Jay!!

a blooper from A Smile to Remember

So because I have a loooong history with this little man's folks I feel free to share this ridiculous blooper. Definitely one of my favorite bloopers ever! There are three sides to every story. One he did in fact wake up a 4 am the day of this photo session at "A Smile to Remember". Two he at first, was not so thrilled about taking photo's. Three he totally warmed up and was a sweetheart filled with smiles, he did however manage to send me a subconscious little message..lol...truth be told he was pointing and giggling during this but.... seriously? I think his Dad will appreciate this...who OMG he looks so much like now, especially when he is laughing..crazy.

A Smile to Remember 2012

You continue to bring your friends and family together. With good intentions we headed to a respectable restaurant after today's portraits. As life would have it we, instead ended up at a dive Irish bar, played Keno and enjoyed a few. You would have loved it and we have you to thank for making this special and  ridiculous memory happen. Your Smile is FOREVER Remembered. I am so happy with this year's "A Smile to Remember", honoring Lynne. I Morris. A warm thank you to all that participated and the cooperation of the parks department ,especially Richard Rose. We are all so very grateful. I can't wait to post all the beautiful smiles from today and a funny blooper too!!

Camera shy photographer?

Photographing a head shot for my website has proved to be an impossible task. Yup this photographer is a bit camera shy...not for silly faced photo's, but for anything serious or important...yuck. Yes I feel every angle is wrong and accents something I'd rather see downplayed...but the truth is having that camera barrel peer at you is just plain intimidating. It makes you feel sort of naked...which in some ways would be easier because it would be an artistic nude right? In my undergrad photography days we used to joke about how if you just got naked and photographed you'd earn an A...I've seen it work ;) My motive is storytelling, but my mission is to help you be you and not notice me doing what I do. I suppose that is why my "style" of photographing is candid, unobtrusive and relaxed. There is a level of trust needed between the model and the photographer and I have a great respect for the trust you place in me. I don't know about you but the thought of being the center of attention on my wedding day made me feel sick, I don't like being the center, but I was and it was awesome. I hired someone that got me and I never felt camera shy.

Nicki & Mike the reception

So as the sun set the party began. Guests arrived via school bus, I had to take advantage of the back seat of the bus...ah we've all been there....what was his/her name for you?...hmmm... The bride walked into the reception singing, with her captivating powerful voice. She shared a dance with her first man..Daddy and a sweet embrace, with her flower I love you forever girl. Things began to heat up with dessert. I love the bride's reaction to the surprise dance everyone prepared. Her band even took the floor for a bit. Yes some did party til' they dropped as for the bride & groom I'm sure the night didn't last long enough, but that is why you have a lifetime...very best wishes to you both!
